First of all, I would like to welcome you all to slave history 101
For the open minded that are willing to hear for those who can’t.
For its written we were brought here against our will
Perceived as animals, property, just another bill.
When does a human life become expendable?
And what makes us think that it will ever be amendable.
Reparations, 40 Acres and a mule
Ignoring our need for education and school
Half way around the world we hear a cry
While we say slavery no longer exist, a lie.
Blindfolded by ignorance and misconception
While in our own home this is not the exception
Children sold to the highest bidder
Prices even ebay would consider.
Women no say, no hope, no pay
Trying to find the light of another day
When reality becomes a nightmare
While the rest of us unaware.
Slavery, what we called a part of the past
However its time has not passed.
Slavery, where fitting in is selling out
Worth measure by how much you put out.
Slavery, where love means nothing and money means everything
We are ruled by dollar signs, slaves hanged by greed.
Slavery, where hope is gone letting failure throne
How can we hope as we stand-alone?
Slavery, where innocence is replaced with darkness
Where smiles are replaced with tears.
Slavery, where hunger and AIDS are our bigger fear
And nothing is ever what it appears.
Slavery, where peace is found in a war for oil
While we ignore death, corruption and poverty on our own soil.
Slavery, what we no longer believe in
Yet it rules the way we livin’.
Slavery, we believe is a part of the past
Yet, its time has not passed
Still living in fear, 2010 the year.
Take a second, get a clue
Realize what are you a slave to?
