If I Died Tomorrow

Death and dying has been a widely studied phenomena for centuries (thanatology). Death is clouded in mystery and questions are plentiful; what happens to your soul when the body stops living? If death is painless, why does ‘dying’ hurt? And, why don’t we laugh at death and cry at birth?

It has been said that people are most alive and peaceful just moments before death. If that’s true, then why do we search our entire lives for happiness and fulfillment, only to achieve it at death?

Funerals and memorial services are often sad occasions. Remembering old times with loved ones who are no longer with us can be painful, but death is a part of life. Truth is, one day, our being on this earth will come to an end.

Imagine if you definitively knew, maybe by intuition or a higher power, that you were going to die tomorrow? Think about that for a moment. That’s some heavy stuff. Take a minute to reflect on the following questions:

–Were you happy on earth? Would you feel accomplished?
–Did you bring joy to others?
–How would you want to be remembered?
–What will your last thoughts be?
–What would your last words be and why?
–Who would you spend time with tonight?
–What would your last meal be?
–What do you think death will feel like?
–What are your thoughts on the “afterlife”?

Lastly, ask yourself: What would you do if you knew you were going to die tomorrow?

But what’s stopping you from doing it today? If tomorrow is not promised, you better get moving… you never know when your time is up. Being alive doesn’t mean you’re living. So while we’re alive, you might as well LIVE YOUR LIFE. Live it to the best of your ability, with no regrets. And don’t be afraid.

Cheers.
